The Vimeiro Thermal Centre is located on the North of the Torres Vedras municipality in the village of Maceira by the Alcabrichel River and in an area of great and interesting geological aspects.
The history of this Thermal Centre goes back to the 19^th century.
In 1845, some descriptions note the existence of two springs, one on each margin of the River. The first official analysis was made by Agostinho Vicente Lourenço in 1867 and later on by Charles Lepierre.
The legal exploration dated from 1896 was granted, for unlimited time to José Pedro Cardoso, at the time owner. It’s in 1920 that his heirs ask for a licence to change the name to Empresa das Águas do Vimeiro, Lda. In January 1921 the charter is published classifying the waters as sodium chlorinated.
