The Fonte dos Frades Thermal Centre is located between the village of Maceira and the Porto Novo beach.
The building, undergoing renovations at the moment, is divided into 3 areas. In the centre there is the reception area and a small waiting area. On either of the sides is the various treatment cabins still divided into male and female area. Nevertheless this division is not really considered today in the booking of the treatments, although there is special attention in distributing therapists of the same sex as of the users.
The Buvete is were water is given to the Thermal Centre’s users, under medical prescription. It is located in the exterior, in a covered area surrounded by magnificent gardens. The Alcabrichel River passes beside the Thermal building, headed to the Porto Novo beach.
This entire complex is surrounded by a grove of trees and the landscape around it is a mixture of rocks which limits the valley of the river and the normal vegetation of the area.
